This resource has two parts. Part 1 is eight graphic organizers that work with any nonfiction book. Part 2 has a section for each of ten animal books, with activities written for that book and a writing prompt. Please look at the preview to see every page.

This companion goes with my Animal Mentor Sentences unit, which uses the same ten books. Each book section here names its mentor sentence focus standard.
Can I use the organizers with other books?
Yes. The eight organizers work with any nonfiction book.
Are answers included?
Each book-specific activity has a page of possible answers. The eight organizers are blank templates for any book, so they do not have answer pages.
Are the books included?
No. The books are not included. You need a copy of each book to use its section. Your school library is a good place to start.
What grades is this for?
First and second grade.
Does this go with the mentor sentences unit?
Yes. Both use the same ten books!

I really love the graphic organizers and pick and choose which ones to use that are provided for each book, and add in my own. I wish there was a vocabulary portion for each book like there is for the fiction resource, or that all of the nonfiction were in a bundle
