Description

Better Than Basal Celebrating Diversity

Making sure students feel represented in culture, gender, race, religion, and family structures is so important! This product is filled with Common Core aligned lesson ideas, activities, graphic organizers, and writing prompts for 10 of your favorite mentor texts that celebrate diversity to use in grades 1-2! (See the complete list below.) There are multiple graphic organizers WITH answer keys for each text. It also includes the generic versions of the graphic organizers so you can use them with any book!

Several of my followers who use my Mentor Sentence Units asked how I use those books in reading and writing. This product will help you incorporate your mentor texts for other areas into reading and writing as well. (You do not have to use Mentor Sentences to use these activities in your classroom…)

Not familiar with mentor sentences? Read all about them here!
