This lesson focuses on ideas and feelings as nouns (abstract nouns) and allows students to identify positive and negative ideas and feelings based on behaviors. There are reading and writing activities also included. The reading activities cover asking questions about a text, main idea and details, character traits, looking at illustrations to understand the text, a vocabulary activity for “SEGREGATION,” identifying author’s purpose, and listing supporting reasons to show Martin Luther King, Jr. fought for what he believed. There is also a writing prompt page for students to write about their own dream.
