Description
The Widow’s Broom by Chris Van Allsburg can be used around Halloween as a seasonal mentor text, but it’s really great any time of year as it relates to tolerance and how we treat those that are different than us. If you don’t own a copy of the book, check your local library or you might even find an online read-aloud of the text with a simple Google search!
This book is part of the BONUS UNIT (added June 2022) in the Yearlong Mentor Text Curriculum Bundle: Volume 2 for Grades 3-5! Please do not purchase if you own Volume 2 Yearlong Curriculum Bundle (which includes the mentor sentences, interactive activities, reading activities, writing prompts, and vocabulary lessons).
