Very Important Info About Your TPT Free Downloads!

Hello friends! I am blogging today to tell you some very important information about changes that have been made to TPT. They aren't bad changes at all, but it's something that us sellers want you to know about...
As you know, providing feedback on purchases AND freebies is equally important to sellers. Not only is it polite to show that you are grateful, but it helps us know we've done something you like and we should continue! Or, of course, use it if you need to provide constructive criticism...

However, when you download freebies now, instead of getting the option to immediately leave feedback, TPT shows you some other items you might like, too- which makes sense because you can't really leave feedback until you use it, right?
BUT it's important to remember to go back and leave feedback once you have used it! How do you do that? How will you ever remember? Well, TPT made it easy! First, go to your purchases:
Then, click on the Free Downloads tab!
Last, click on the "provide feedback" link under the product name. Remember, the more you show sellers you love our freebies, the more motivated we are to keep making freebies for you!

And hey- check out this great tip from Diane at Fifth in the Middle! If you want to make sure you've left feedback on everything, you can sort your downloads!
Now, what if you downloaded a freebie and realized it wasn't really what you thought and you aren't going to use it? No harm, no foul! You didn't pay for it, so no loss for you, right? There is no need to tell the seller this- remember, feedback is given after you've used it. But please try to remember to leave some love when you DO use it. Here is an example of why I say this:
Almost 7,000 people downloaded this freebie, and 34 people rated it. Now, did 6,857 people download and actually use it? Probably not. But odds are, more than 34 people did. It's okay if you don't remember to go in right away and leave feedback- but when you go leave feedback on paid products (gotta get those credits!!) go ahead in to your freebies and leave some love on those, too!

And hey, if you don't want something in your free downloads list anymore, just click that little green X on the right of the item in the list that says "remove."
And last but not least, here is a tip about your purchased products and freebies- sometimes, sellers make mistakes. And SOMETIMES, they add to the product you've already gotten. When either of these things happens, they mark the file as revised. But if you are like me and have a bunch of things in your lists, you might not see those revisions right away... so you also want to sort by "Recently Revised" every now and then and check to see what you might be missing!

Please spread the word to all of those you know who download from TPT! :o)

  1. Great post! Do you ever wonder why so few people leave feedback? I recently told a friend at school she could earn credits for leaving feedback and she didn't even know that!

    1. I've heard that too! Maybe they don't see their email? I get an almost daily email telling me to leave feedback if I haven't. I think some people don't really think about it because once they download it and print it, they don't go back to "my purchases?" I don't know really! That would be an interesting poll. :-P

  3. Thank you for highlighting this. I usually remember to go back and leave feedback on paid purchases because, like you said, they remind you and they give you credit. I don't do so well with remembering the free ones. But I do try to remember because I think it would be important to me if I were a seller. Thanks for pointing out how easy it is to do it, and also the "remove" button is a great pointer, too. I'm using one of your mentor sentences as part of my formal observation/evaluation tomorrow, and I know it will go well because my kids know the routine and they really love this week's sentence, too! (They were planning ahead what they want to write tomorrow, but don't tell!!!!)

  6. I usually download freebies on my phone. And I can't leave feedback there (although it'd be great if I could) so then I forget to go back! Come in TPT, make it so I can leave feedback on my phone!

    1. Sorry! I wish they would too! Maybe when you get on your computer to print them you can log in real quick? I sometimes forget too!

  8. Thank you so much for this post-it is great (I am bookmarking so I can refer back later). I would like you to know that when sellers respond to feedback, even if it is just a quick "Thanks" or "Glad to help" it goes a LONG way with buyers. When I know that a seller appreciates my feedback, I tend to give it more often, and I frequent those stores more often too! -Just a tip from a "strictly buyer"!!!!

    1. Thank you for sharing that!! You are right- it is good to get responses. There are mixed views because some feel it clogs up the feedback screen. Personally, I used to try to respond to my feedbacks and I would get so overwhelmed with it during sales especially that it became very difficult to answer everyone. It is definitely a blessing- a good problem to have- but I will take your comment into consideration. ;-)

    2. As a buyer, I appreciate knowing that the producer of the item actually READS the reviews and grows in their knowledge and skills about what is a great product, what could have been tweaked, etc. I know with BIG sellers who sell kaboodles of items, it is probably something they can not take on a daily or monthly basis.

As a seller, I anxiously await those comments so I know what to improve on or why the item was a hit. Always a 2nd side to every story, huh!

Reading others' feedback they have left on items I am gathering on my own hunt really helps me sort out similar products.. sooooo, yeah, FEEDBACK has its important moments!

  10. Thanks! I didn't know about those 2 sorting features. I just tried it and saw I DID have a purchase that someone recently revised. Very cool!

  11. This was a great post! I didn't know about the sorting features either! I have been wanting to leave feedback for my freebies, but thought it would be arduous to try and figure out where each product "lived". Now I'm ready to go! Will definitely be sharing this!!
