What Was The Boston Tea Party? Mentor Text Sunday!

Guess what time it is??
That's right. Mentor Text Sunday!!

Have you heard of the "Who Was" and "What Was" series? I love these books!
Who Was Series
A great one for my Social Studies curriculum is What Was the Boston Tea Party?
In this book, the Boston Tea Party is literally brought to life while getting to know the who and why of this event. This book makes learning about the causes of the Revolution fun and is written on a level that 8-10-year-olds can actually comprehend it, which is huge since so many books about the Revolution are very high leveled. Anyone else with me on this one? Maybe that can be our next job- write nonfiction that kids can read! :)

Speaking of Causes of the Revolution....... Guess what??? I just finished my first interactive notebook product on that very topic! :) I was so excited to be able to use Erin's (I'm Lovin Lit) AWESOME Interactive Notebook Templates!!!

As usual with my new products, it will be 20% off for today and tomorrow, but I'm also going to give it away to the first person who can guess my birthday, in honor of it being Amanda's birthday today (over at Collaboration Cuties). Just leave your guess in the comments below! And when you head over to check out the other awesome mentor texts, be sure to leave Amanda some birthday love! :)

OOOOOH I almost forgot!!! Today is the last day for your chance to win a $50 gift card for TPT! Make sure you've entered!

Linking this up to Fifth In The Middle's Awesome SS linky! :)

  1. I'm guessing that your birthday is September 13. kmhteacher@yahoo.com

  2. These are some of my favorite books for my classroom. I just picked up 4 more at Sam's Club last week.

  3. I love these books and will be asking our new librarian to order more this year. Your interactive notebook looks fantastic - what an amazing amount of work you must have put into creating it. I just looked up your birthday but since I do not teach this I will not give it away :)

  4. These are great books! I am constantly adding more of them to my classroom library. I am going to guess that your birthday is St. Patrick's Day! (I have two friends with that exact same birthday as well.) Have a happy Sunday.

    1. You're correct! There was a total obvious giveaway in my post yesterday of my writer's notebook. :-P Is that how you got it? Please send me your email so I can send it to you! :) You are a no-reply blogger so I can't get in touch with you! There's a techy tip to fix that up at the top if you want to change it. :)

    2. Thanks for a fun giveaway! I never win anything so I was pretty excited when I stumbled on your St. Patrick's day entry while searching holiday ideas. Have a super school year. I also teach fourth grade out in Camas, Washington and we don't go back until September. I'm in that not quite ready to go back yet phase but still very excited to start planning for another great year. Here's my email: erin.linton@camas.wednet.edu Thanks again!

  5. Looks like a great product! :) Thanks so much for the shout-out! My life changed when my hubby asked me to date him on May 4, 2000... so I'll stick with May 4th.
    :) Erin

  8. I love this series. It really is nice that they "get" that 9/10 year olds need these concepts simplified a bit.

Thank you for sharing your resource. It is on my back to school wish list!

  9. I love this series! I discovered it when one of my sons was younger. Great books! Your interactive notebook looks wonderful!

  10. I love this series, and so do my kids. Just added your new product into my wish list in TPT!

  11. I have a few of the "Who Was" books, but none of the "What Was" series! Your new unit looks fantastic! I'm so mad-I totally knew your birthday because I remember when you celebrated and it was my grandma's birthday too! :O)
