Throwback Thursday - Making Collage Previews!

Well, I suppose I told a lie yesterday in my scheduled post. We decided we didn't want our trip to be over and had to stay one more day. So TODAY I'll be driving home. I am so sad because my summer is almost over. :( I just wanted to stretch this trip out a little more!!!

So for today's Throwback Thursday with First Grade ParadeI'm going to share a techy tip I made a few months ago. As we know, previews are so important in our TPT products because people want to see what they're actually getting. I'll admit, I haven't bought a product because there wasn't a preview and I didn't want to risk not getting what I thought. Here's an easy way to make previews if you aren't sure, or are looking for another way! :)

If you haven't already checked out my Techy Tips, visit the link right under my header, or you can click here. This post is also located under Techy Tips so you can always go back to it without trying to find this post.

I am so excited to share a link I came across from Mrs. Dwyer's A+ Firsties! I have heard about the pain and suffering that goes into making preview collage files for TPT, which is why I never really did. But then, I came across her link on Pinterest and I got so excited!!!

You will need to download Picasa to your computer (if you haven't already). You can do that here.

You will also want to save your documents as .jpg files. Because I've already MADE mine, and they were saved as PDFs, I just opened the PDF and "saved as" JPEG/JPG. (Don't forget, if you've secured your documents-and I hope you have!- you will need to remove security before you can save as another file format.)

If you are using PPT, you can save all the slides as picture files by choosing "save as" again and selecting the JPEG File Interchange Format. This will make a folder of all the slides as individual .jpg files.
Finally, once you have done these things, go read Tanya's post about Picasa Previews on her blog!! Just follow this link! :)

Here is a sample of one of my collages I made tonight-

It took me all of 10 minutes!! Once you start playing with it, it gets even easier. There is a tool that allows you to rotate or resize the pictures within the collage (if you are using the picture pile option) - see below.

And if you right click on a picture in the collage, you can move it to the top or send it to the bottom.

I hope this will save you time and hair-pulling!! :)

  1. I couldn't agree more about the importance of previews! If there isn't one (and a good one) then for me it's like walking through a bookstore where all the books are wrapped up! No way! Plus I want to make sure people buying know what they are getting. But oh so tedious to make! I'll try Picassa to make it a bit easier on me. Thank you!
