Back to School Goals AND 8 Days of Giveaways!!

Jessica over at I {heart} Recess couldn't have timed these Back to School Goals any better!! Here are mine......
Personal: I've been trying to do better with my eating habits, but I keep "falling off the wagon" because it's so easy to meet a friend for lunch or dinner in the summer. Although I will not always feel like it, I WILL be cooking more often because #1, eating out is expensive, and #2, I don't eat out at good-for-you places. But I'm realistic about it. I left two nights for date nights or dinner with a friend. :)

Organization: I say this EVERY year. It's actually kind of terrible. I have every good intention of staying organized. I have binders for every unit/subject. But then I run copies, or I use books, and they get stuck in a stack on my desk. The stack grows and grows and grows... I just have to make myself put everything away at the end of every day. In other words, I can't leave if there's a stack. :-P

Planning: I always start the year off using my lesson planner consistently, and then as the year goes on, my planner starts getting buried... yes, under those stacks. LOL I'm hoping since I have such an ADORABLE lesson planner, I will be motivated to use it!
Professional: Soooo this won't actually start until September, but it doesn't hurt to think ahead... I'll be getting my Gifted Endorsement this school year, so I'll have class once a week. Sometimes online, sometimes in person, but I will definitely have classwork every week. I need to make sure I plan my schedule to allow time for this because I am notorious for waiting until a day before it's due to get it done.

Students: I know that sometimes it's easy to listen to other teachers about their experiences with students, and form a negative picture in your mind of what those students are going to do to your year. Yes, sometimes, their experiences will be your experiences, but I've also learned over the years that student-teacher match-ups aren't always the best, and someone else's experiences will not be your own. I'm going to do my best to see the positive in every kiddo, not only to make them feel good, but also just to have a good outlook on the class and the year.

Motto: You know I'm all about workshops and interactive learning. This motto is a great reminder of the kind of teacher I want to be, and the kind of learners I want to have! :)

  3. I'm getting my gifted endorsement this year as well. I definitely agree with keeping a schedule. Very similar back to school goals.

  4. I can not believe on top of all that you do you are going back to school too. You are one busy lady. That is awesome though!! You are right, it is so easy eating out in the summer, I always think we will eat better in the summer, but no. Thanks for sharing your goals. Have an amazing first day tomorrow - share pics of your outfit and room on Instagram please!

  5. Great personal goal! It is so easy to stop somewhere after work and grab dinner. I will be working on doing a better job at that this year, too.

Enjoy your first day back to school.

  6. If you stop using your planner. I will take it. We can just cross the 4 off and tape a 6 on there. I am crafty!

I am trying to figure out how I am going to stay on top of school work, grad work, personal life, and reflection! EEEEEKKKKKK

  7. Every day that I read your blog I think to myself how in the WORLD you have time to make everything you do plus blog plus live! Holy smokes, lady... do you sleep?! :) I love the personalized planner! I've thought about buying one online, but then I have to be honest with myself and know it'll be a waste of money.

    Happy Tuesday! :)

  8. I hear you on the organization! I am in the process of organizing my mess from last year and am constantly thinking of how to make it "easy" to stay organized!! I end up just shoving things in piles on my shelves to file later due to lack of time! ugh. I love what you said about "students" and your motto. So true!!

  9. My hubby and I have ate at home all but a couple times in the last week since I've come back. We couldn't remember the last time we'd accomplished that since summer had started, and we were doing better last fall about eating healthier.

Where did you get your planner binded at? I bought one too, (great minds think alike? Haha!) I'm trying to decide if I just want to stick it in a thin binder or bind it.

  10. Re: Your Organization....I am the SAME STINKIN' WAY!! I NEVER put things away after I've copied/presented/used them, and as a result, I end up with a stack this high for every subject that needs to be filed away in the cool binders I made for each subject. At the end of the day with all the kids, who wants to file? At the end of the year, who wants to file? I'll be going back to work 2 weeks early so that I can do all that filing. ; )

  11. Def share your goal on eating's so easy to fall off the wagon!! And I love that you make your own opinion despite what colleagues might say. You're so right, sometimes the teacher can be the difference that kid needs!! :)

  12. I love the dinner goal...I know the feeling of being too tired and just grabbing something quick. Good luck with your class!

  13. Good luck with your gifted endorsement! Hopefully it won't be too time-consuming. I like your personal goal. My hubby would be thrilled if I cooked once a week, though. He does all the cooking!

  14. That's my goal too-put everything away! I hate "that" pile! And, what are you talking about you wait until the last minute? You are NOT a procrastinator! You have posts done days ahead of time! Now, I do wait until the last minute, but I like to tell myself I work better under pressure! haha

  15. I can soooo close to putting the same personal goal... I just cannot get motivated... EEK!! I really appreciate the one about finding the good in every child - I always remind myself of if it were my child... that puts it ALL in perspective for me!! Best of luck with all your goals!

  16. I'm right there with you on the organization goal. I love how neat and tidy my room looks at the beginning of the year but those darn piles sneak in so subtly. I am making a standing appointment for myself to do all my filing/reshelving each week to hopefully tame the piles. Love your motto too- perfect for back to school.
