Atlanta Blogger Meet-Up! - Ideas By Jivey: For the Classroom

Atlanta Blogger Meet-Up!

The day finally arrived! And what fun we had!! There were nine of us in all, and it was so wonderful getting to know bloggers in person that I had been reading their blogs and emailing, so already felt like I knew! We missed our friends that couldn't make it, but still had a wonderful time!

We met at the Swan Coach House for a nice southern lunch. It was so delish!
Amanda from Collaboration Cuties made the adorable placemats, Stacia made our cute name buttons, Elizabeth and Brandee made us a cute to-do list in a frame that we could write on and wipe off, and I put together (with Amanda's help in the idea) some cute jars filled with goodies! Take all the goodies out and the jars can be used as a drinking cup with those adorable printed straws! (Amanda found the lids and straws on Very Jane.)

Here's a peek at the fun things that were inside the jar:

If you don't already follow these fun people, make sure to go check out their blogs!!

And then of course, we couldn't JUST have lunch... where do teachers go when they are in Atlanta together??
I had NEVER been. Yes, I know. It's a shame. But boy, I learned quickly that I was missing out!! I got some great things, for not a whole lot of money!

I got 6 of these for my small groups at my kidney table:
I really wanted them in this color because it's way prettier:
But, they were sold out. :( It's ok though. The white ones are good, too. :) Plus, I still got my blue! Check out my new teacher chair!!
It was comfy, small enough to fit in my area where I pull my kids to the floor, AND the cover is removable so I can wash it when the kids funk it up. Because let's face it. They will. :o) I also got this table to sit next to it:
Aaaaaand, check out these nifty little frames!
They are 4x6-sized and don't have a back so they can hold two "pictures." But not pictures in my room! They are going to hold directions to centers and stations! They are only 99 cents!!!

I'd say that's a successful day, wouldn't you? If you ever have the opportunity to meet up with some bloggers in a near-by city, I would definitely say- do it! If you are a fellow blogger, you know, this community is like no other- we support, we share, we become best of friends, and we are just FUN! I'm so thankful I am able to be a part of such a great "thing!"

  1. I have never been to IKEA either - I'm hoping to go this summer.

  2. Awww, what a lovely time you had! Of course an Ikea trip would be in order - I love those little 99c stands, I have them in my classroom too! I will head on back up and make sure I follow all the other girls too!

    1. Here is a blog post I did last year

I have also used them for table names, science workstations and word work choices.

  3. So jealous and you all look beautiful! Glad you had a great time! I have the chairs in black-I think you'll be happy with the white in case you ever change your décor! Plus, you have a colorful rug coming! :O) I have those little frames too, but I need to get a couple more! It's like a museum, you need a day to spend there!

  4. Looks like ya'll had fun. I was so wanting to go but I don't drive in ATL... lol! I AM going to make it to the next one though! I also went to Ikea for the first time about a month ago. I guess I'm glad I went so early because I was able to get the adorable blue stools... love them! I wish I would have seen the white frames though!

  6. I used to live in Atlanta....LOVED it! I was so tempted to meet y'all....sigh. Sounds like y'all had a blast! :)

I love IKEA too. If I could get that, Hobby Lobby, and The Container Store to come to VA Beach, I'd be a happy girl :)

  16. It was so wonderful to meet you! This was truly a wonderful day and you were so awesome to plan it. :)

I didn't see that cool blue chair or I would have gotten one for myself! That's the perfect blue. I did see an orange polka dot rug and wondered if you saw it because it made me think of you. :)

  17. AH! So much fun! We just had one in Minneapolis here the other day! So good to put real faces and personalities with the blog. I love Ikea. I am going to go get those stools this week. I live about 10 miles from one (but it is right next to the Mall of America so parking is a nightmare!)!

  18. It looks like you lovely ladies had a great time. I can not believe that was your first trip to an IKEA. Even I, living way up here in Canada, go to IKEA a few times a year :). Next year be sure to host it in Toronto so I can come too :)

  19. What fun I'm sorry I missed it! I was on a family vacation. Next time I'll be there. ;)
