Some Hard News To Swallow…

I had every intention of linking up with Holly today, but it doesn’t feel right at the moment. (Sorry Holly!!)
I received some hard-to-handle news today, and just felt like sharing it instead. I have said before, teachers are such supportive, wonderful people, but teacher bloggers are the BEST. I know that our community will be supportive and send thoughts and prayers steadily for another fellow teacher…
A fellow teacher friend of mine, who I have been fortunate to call a friend now for almost 6 years, has cancer. It started as a rare, aggressive form of lung cancer, which then moved to her brain in March. A couple of weeks ago, she got an infection, which wasn’t good… and she has now been put in hospice. 🙁
She has been through SO much over the last few years, and in spite of it all, is the most POSITIVE person I know. I first met her at my old school. I came to know her as a child advocate, and she was my go-to for any child that I was trying to get services for, or just get help with in the classroom. (She is a special education teacher.) Then she left my old school, but thanks to Facebook and Words With Friends, we never lost touch. She ended up at my current school, and she was the reason that I took the job at my current school. There have been some definite trying times this school year, but through it all, she stays positive and encouraging and inspirational to everyone around her. Through ALL that she has been dealing with, I have never once heard her complain.
I am so lucky to call her my friend. She calls me her Doppleganger. 🙂 Although 20ish years separate us in age, we are like two peas in a pod sometimes.
Thank you for letting me share this with you. If you are so inclined, please send thoughts and prayers to this wonderful woman and her family. It is all she has ever asked from us…
